Trend Talk: Sign Of The Times

Retro is definitely IN! We’ve seen it in many categories of home dûcor and decorative accessories as well as gifts, but have you noticed the trend in signage? Collectors are spending thousands of dollars for old signs from establishments such as Hojo’s and Mobil Oil Company. Restaurateurs are purchasing period pieces to decorate their businesses. Hotels are using them in meeting and eating areas. But not only are ‘real’ old signs and accessories being swept up by buyers, sign makers and product designers are being hired to create new, interior and exterior, faux-aged products. Many of these products are being created on computers with much in the way of development options. The most sophisticated tools of tomorrow are creating products that look like they came from the past. Transforming Tomorrow Everyone needs a pick-me-up. Face it. You are sitting at your desk and all of a sudden you feel sluggish. What’s the first thing you do? Grab a cup of coffee? Can of soda? Skip all that and grab a bottle of water instead. A study done by Yankelovich Partners for The Rockefeller University clearly found that most of us don’t get enough water every day. Your body starts to dehydrate when you don’t get as much water as it needs. You can tell because of: headaches, dry and itchy skin, indigestion, lapses in concentration and even plain, old grogginess. Being well hydrated contributes to alertness and helps you avoid mental fatigue. On average, Americans drink only 6.1 servings of water each day; health experts recommend drinking eight or more eight-ounce servings of water daily. Ten percent of people polled reported they didn’t drink any water at all. So, if you aren’t as alert as you’d like to be right now ? skip the cup of coffee and grab a bottle of water.

Trying to Buy A "Diamond In The Rough"?
The paper said "diamond in the rough." Which means either it needs lots of work or perhaps just a little TLC. But exactly how "rough" can a house be before a lender decides the collateral is not healthy enough to issue a mortgage? And what happens if you want the seller to fix something before you’ll close the deal?
