Rent Real EstateThe Charm of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina
Realtor Mike Terry says, "Mount Pleasant is close to everything. Our beaches are within a couple minutes, downtown Charleston is just over the bridge, shopping is convenient, schools are some of the best in the area. The town recreation department is probably the best in the State. There"s always something to do around the area. The people are friendly and love the outdoors. There"s plenty of top notch golf courses, and tennis courts. Boating in the area is big."
He continues, "It continues to be a strong sellers market. Houses sold in Sept. 2005 sold for 98.01 percent of list price with an average sold price of $387,834. Mount Pleasant"s convenience, stability, overall charm and beauty help to lead the way in attracting new home owners to the area from all over the world. Mount Pleasant is truly one of the premiere areas to live in the United States."
Realtor Carl Ahlert notes, "I believe this market is becoming better balanced, following an increasingly strong seller"s market over the past year and a half through August. Now, more homes are available on the market and they are staying available just a bit longer. Long term prospects are for continued, controlled growth and healthy appreciation, due to strong demand along with limits imposed by the Town"s government on the number of permits issued annually for new homes. For September 2005 the number of active listings was up 3.0 percent and listings sold were up 15.6 percent over September 2004. The average sold price was $398,400 and median sold price was $304,500. These increased 26.2 percent and 15.8 percent, respectively, over September 2004. Average number of days on the market was 41 and sale prices were 97.8 percent of list prices."
He adds, "This is a popular community that is primarily residential and located just across the mouth of the Cooper River from Downtown Charleston. There is a spectacular new bridge for direct access to the City and I-26. Using I-526 from the heart of Mount Pleasant, access to Berkeley County, North Charleston and Charleston International Airport is also very convenient. And, of course, the Atlantic coast beach communities of Sullivans Island and Isle of Palms are on barrier islands just across the Intracostal Waterway. Many neighborhoods have water frontage, access and beautiful views on Charleston Harbor, the Intracostal Waterway, the Wando River or one of the many connecting creeks and marshes. The shrimp boats that dock on well-known Shem Creek provide just one of the picturesque features of this community."
