More than 8,000 people live in this city of expensive, ocean-view custom homes, making use of the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club at La Jolla Shores, just south of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography.

Albuquerque, New Mexico Home Prices Surge.

Local Realtors in Albuquerque are reporting rising home prices, and multiple offers on homes in many areas as the city enjoys a surging seller"s market. "The median price for single-family homes in Albuquerque has jumped by 8.3 percent from May 2003 to May 2004," says Realtor Laurie Balmer. "The average price for a single family home in May 2003 was $169,235. In May 2004 it jumped to $183,288! For townhouses and condos the median price from May 2003 to May 2004 jumped 11.5% percent. The average price in May 2003 was $107,127 and in May 2004, it was $119,488! A record number of sales was reported for the first quarter of this year in the Albuquerque area, 2040 homes. This is higher than the first quarter of 2003 by 0.79 percent.
